Purpose of this Study

This questionnaire is part of a Ph.D. study conducted at Cairo University, Egypt. Apart from the academic degree, the researcher is planning to pass her recommendations for improving future Qur'an translations, based on respondents' opinions, to some translators who are working on new Qur'an translation projects. Optimistically, the results of this field study, plus the results of the complementary analytical study of a number of the most recent Qur'an translations, are intended to be published in a book by God's grace.

 Eligible RespondEnts

The questionnaire is meant for Muslims and non-Muslims who

* are non-native speakers of Arabic    * have used an English Qur'an translation   * have good command of English

 INTEREST & SERIOUS COMMITMENT NEEDED

The topic of this questionnaire is critical and timely. The form is long and will make you think! However, you will certainly benefit from it, and for some respondents it may be even enjoyable! Hence, unless you are patient, serious, and can afford spending some time to do all of it (I do not mind your doing a bit every day over a fortnight or even a month) giving ALL questions equal attention from beginning to end, then please do not take pains doing it as no incomplete forms will be included in the sample.
